Ventnor is a fascinating if complicated place to paint, looking at this picture roads and paths go in all directions up the steep hill with the water weaving its way through it all and out to sea. I am happy with the blue wash over the buildings in the background adding a bit of haze and distance. This was drawn on location, I was there to sell my work in a marquee but the entry cost meant it was rather quiet and I snuck off to do some sketching instead and I am glad I did as this is arguably my most popular print of Ventnor.
